Latest anti-doping news from around the world:

A Court of Arbitration for Sport consent agreement increased the ban of 54 year-old amateur American para-cyclist Aaron Keith from 4 months to 14 months after a biological sample he provided out-of-competition on 29 February 2024 tested positive for an unspecified Androgenic Anabolic Steroid (AAS). The original 4 month ban handed out by an independent arbitrator last year was appealed by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). According to CAS documents, Keith claimed in a 2024 letter to USADA that the positive test result was likely “the result of contamination of the NOW Sports Beta-Alanine supplement with androstenedione and testosterone that were not disclosed on the label.” But NOW® Sports, maker of the supplement named by Keith, advertises their products as independently certified by Informed Sport/LGC, adding, “We’ve developed our own, cutting-edge testing method to screen for banned substances and illegal adulterants, including steroids, diet drugs, erectile dysfunction drugs, and economic adulterants such as melamine, so you can rest easy knowing that every NOW® Sports product you pick up has been tested and verified to be free of adulterants.Keith is a multiple USA Paracycling National Road and Time Trial Champion, as well as a 2020 Paralympian silver medalist. He is prohibited from participating in sport in any capacity until 11 January 2026.

A 5 year sanction was handed out to Russian amateur cyclist Grigory Frantsev, 42, by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) after he tested positive for the banned AAS substances Testosterone, Clostebol and Androsterone on 9 September 2024. Russian Cycling Federation results show Grigory Frantsev competed in the Russian MTB Downhill Championship three weeks earlier, finishing in last place. Frantsev is prohibited from participating in sport in any capacity until 8 September 2029.
