Latest anti-doping news from around the world:

El Observador reports the National Anti-Doping Organization of Uruguay (ONAU) has banned 2024 Giro Fem Uruguay champion Johanna Bracco, 40, after she tested positive for Erythropoietin (EPO). The amateur cyclist from Uruguay is banned from participating in sport in any capacity until 22 September 2028 and has been stripped of her Giro Fem Uruguay title.

2024 runner up Argentinian Dolores Rodriguez Rey, 45, would normally be awarded the victory after Bracco’s anti-doping ban, but she tested positive for a cocktail of banned substances (Drostanolone, Metasterone, Methylhexaneamine, Cocaine and Betametasone) and is now banned from participating in sport in any capacity until 10 December 2028. She was also stripped of her Giro Fem Uruguay result.

Therefore, 24 year-old Paolo Silva of Uruguay, who finished in third place, has been moved into first place as the 2024 Giro Fem Uruguay Champion. She also won the event in 2023.

ONAU also announced 2022 Giro Fem Uruguay champion Fabiana Granizal, 38, has been banned four years and stripped her of the title after she tested positive for Phenmetracin, an appetite suppressant. The Uruguayan is banned from participating in sport in any capacity until 7 March 2027. Runner up Ana Seijas, 41, of Uruguay is now the new 2022 Giro Fem Uruguay champion.
