As the most famous face of the Tour de France, Didi The Devil chased and encouraged thousands of amateur L’Etape cyclists on Sunday, but it was professionals who ruled the podiums on a double-header L’Etape by Tour de France weekend.
Over 3000 riders competed at L’Etape Bulgaria and L’Etape Costa Rica, with a pair of 23 year-olds taking overall victory: Dylan Jimenez (7C-ECONOMY) in Costa Rica and Borislav Palashev (PSKK VASSIL-LEVSKI) in Bulgaria.
Palashev, wearing the 2025 Bulgarian National Road Champion’s jersey, soled in for the win with a time of 2:59:10 after 112 kilometers of racing around the city of Sofia – and alongside Didi. Borislav Hadzhistotanov, 20, was next at 3:00:43, with Theodore Roussex, 34, close behind at 3:01:11 taking third place.
Teenage elite MTB sensation and 2025 Bulgarian National Champion Yoana Valkanova, 18, won the women’s race in 3:48:09. Elena Petrova, 32, of North Mecedonia and Vivian Sarri, 21, of Greece completed the podium.
10,000 kilometers away in Cartago, Costa Rica Dylan Jiminez soloed to victory by over ten minutes after finished 2nd at the 2025 Costa Rican national championships a month ago. He stopped the clock in 3:17:01 after completing 123 mountainous kilometers. Sebastian Meneses, 18, finished in second place at 3:27:29, followed by Brayan Vargas Miranda, 19, at 3:30:06.
Professional Gloriana Quesada (COLONO BIKESTATION KOLBI), 32, the 2025 Costa Rican National Time Trial Champion added a L’Etape title to her palmares, finishing solo in 3:47:17. Natalia Navarro Cerdas, 34, and Laura Solano Matmoros, 33, took the lower podium steps in 3:53:28 and 4:25:16 respectively.
