Latest anti-doping news from around the world:

Polish cyclist Aurela Nerlo, 27, has been provisionally suspended by the Polish Anti-Doping Agency (POLADA) after allegedly testing positive (A & B samples) for the banned substance Ligandrol on 24 July 2025, according to a statement posted by team Winspace Orange Seal, for whom she rides.

The Columbian Anti-Doping Agency (ONAD) has provisionally suspended 30 year-old amateur cyclist Aldemar Reyes, according to the latest Colombian Cycling Federation sanctions list. The 30 year-old former Colombian pro, now racing as an amateur, allegedly violated WADA Code at an out-of-competition test on 9 June 2025, but ONAD has yet to release additional details.

Italy’s National Anti-Doping Tribunal announced the provisional suspension of Italian amateur cyclist Giuseppe Caruso as a precautionary measure after he allegedly returned positive anti-doping test results for the banned at all times substances Exogenous Testosterone and Clostebol in a check ordered by NADO Italia.

On Friday 8 August two French riders at the Tour of Guadaloupe were provisionally suspended by French Anti-Doping (AFLD) and removed from the race after allegedly violating World Anti-Doping Agency Code in July at Tour de Marie-Galante, according to a statement by Frederic Theobald, President of the Regional Cycling Committee of the Islands of Guadeloupe, and published at Francinfo. Suspended were amateur cyclists Yannis André Lubin, 24, and Lionel Miny, 33. Specific details of their anti-violations were not released, but Miny also tested positive in 2018 and received a four-year ban after being found guilty of using EPO. The announcement follows news of two other riders at the race who were caught on video cheating and kicked-out earlier in the week.

Note: Provisionally suspended athletes are presumed innocent until an anti-doping court renders a verdict, but in the meantime they are not allowed to participate in sport in any capacity.

South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) reports Patrice Alain Marc Gautier received a three year ban after he tested positive for Exogenous Testosterone on 4 April 2025. He did not challenge the anti-doping violation and received a one year ban reduction, from four to three. The 56 year-old amateur multi-sport athlete is banned from participating in sport in any capacity until 12 June 2028.

SAIDS also announced amateur age-group triathlete Eulali Gouws has been banned for two years six months after refusing to submit out-of-competition biological samples on 13 February 2025 – a World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Article 2.3 violation. In SAIDS case documents she stated. “I refused to be tested due to finding out that I am pregnant and believed that it is not in the best interest of myself and the baby to undergo a drug test.” Gouws is banned from participating in sport in any capacity until 27 September 2026.
