Southern California’s Tour de Big Bear is one of the most popular cycling events on the American west coast, offering cyclists the opportunity to ride in the refreshingly cool San Bernardino Mountains just east of Los Angeles during the dog days of summer

Early on Saturday 2 August the 13th Tour de Big Bear rolled out from an oxygen deprived altitude of 7000 feet near Big Bear Lake, with challenging gran fondo and gravel routes on tap for the 2000 participants to tackle.

The 100 mile gran fondo saw youngsters Jonas Woodruff, 20, and Thomas Sullivan, 17, battle all the way to the finish line in 4:31:55, with Woodruff emerging victorious in a sprint photo finish. Giovanni Romero was third in 4:31:57.

Judy Faris was the first woman in 4:39:20, followed by Kristiina Beary at 5:02:12 and Courtney Sullivan at 5:06:13.

Jordan Vincent was first to finish the 70 mile medio fondo in 3:22:10, followed by Hollywood actor Tanq Said at 3:22:10 and Ismael Carbajal in 3:22:46.

Denise Ingram was the first women at 3:43:42, with Janice Loughman next at 4:14:14 and then Dora Barnfather at 4:19:06.

Graveleurs rode a 50 mile route with Samuel Brehm first to finish in 3:05:14. Chris Powell and Victor Sheldon were next at 3:07:50 in that order. Kristan Smith was the first women.

The 14th Tour de Big Bear will take place 1 August 2026.
