On Saturday 2 August at the 100 mile Around the Pot gravel race in South Africa, last year’s champions Matt Beers and Catherine Colyn repeated, scoring back-to-back victories.

Beers, 31, finished in 3:52:04, almost seven minutes up on Travis Stedman and Johan Van Zyl, who filled the lower podium steps in that order.

Colyn, 28, clinched the women’s race in 4:54:24, also with a seven minute lead. Chasers Kelly Freeth and Lize Cornelius finished in 5:01:55 and 5:04:45 to take second and third place.

Unathi Nxumalo and Mellusca Toovey won the shorter 60 mile race for the men and women respectively, finishing in 2:47:55 and 2:49:43.

Just over 400 graveleurs participated in the sixth edition of Around the Pot, racing through miles of stunning yellow wavering canola fields around the town of Swellendam.
