Italian cyclist Martti Sciortino (ICE FAST SWISS FACTORY BMX TEAM) has been provisionally banned from competition after failing an anti-doping test for two prohibited steroids, Dehydrochlormethylestosterone and Stanozolol, according to a statement from the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
The alleged anti-doping violation occurred after the 27 year-old multiple Italian BMX National Champion submitted biological samples on 24 May 2025 at the BMX Swiss Challenge Cup race, which he won.
Dehydrochlormethylestosterone (DHCMT) is a potent anabolic steroid also known as Oral Turinbol. It helps athletes grow bigger muscles, gain speed and improve endurance. Developed by East Germans in 1961 it was used by many gold medal winning Eastern Bloc athletes, who reportedly developed liver and kidney failure later in life as a result.
Stanozolol is an inexpensive anabolic steroid drug that mimics the effects of Testosterone to boost muscle growth and quick recovery, while maintaining lean body mass. It is often used illegally in race horses.
Both DHCMT and Stanozolol are banned at all times by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
