On a gritty course over sandy beaches and through active military training zones, MadsWurtz Schmidt (PAS RACING) claimed victory at UCI Gravel Challenge Blaavandshuk on Saturday along the Danish coastline.

The 31 year-old Dane finished the challenging 130 kilometer course solo in 3:26:34, with teammate Magnus Bak Klaris, who won UCI Worthersee in April, next at 3:26:48, followed by Paul VOß at 3:31:09.

24 year-old LaLarissa Hartog (ZZPR.NL ORANGE BABIES CYCLING TEAM) of the Netherlands won the women’s race in 4:04:39. Wendy Oosterwoud and Marla Sigmund finished two minutes later to complete the podium in that order. 2023 champion Tessa Neefjes was fifth at 4:11:39.

Over 1000 riders participated, with many falling victim to the demanding seaside course and not finishing. Those that did finish in the top 25% of their age/gender category qualified to race at the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships in the Netherlands next October.
