From the heart of Italy’s famous Dolomites the 17th edition of the Marcialonga Cycling Craft race started from Predazzo Sunday morning, with Italians Patrick Facchini (SILDOM GARDA) and Annalisa Prato (OM.CC) earning top honors.

With four Category 1 climbs over 135 kilometers gran fondo participants rolled out under sunny skies at 08:00, with Facchini eager for revenge after second and third place finishes in the last two editions.

Four hours later after a decisive attack on a leg-breaking 16% gradient, the 37 year-old Facchini soloed across the finish line with a final time of 4:11:29. Francesco Bongiorno was next at 4:11:55, followed by Giuseppe Orlando and Stefano Bonanomi in 4:12:41.

Annalisa Prato, 27, handily dispatched her rivals to win the women’s race by a huge 30 minute margin, finishing in 4:54:18. Sarah Palfrader claimed second place in 5:23:21 as Manuela Elisabeth Beer took the remaining podium step at 5:47:44.

The 80km medio fondo saw 24 year-old Davide Pantano (ZEROTEST) and 29 year-old Elisa Leardini (MGK-VIS PROMOTECH) win in 2:29:01 and 2:56:46 respectively.
