Started by climbers, for climbers, the most demanding cycling challenge in the world is set to host the first Everesting World Championship on 20 September 2025 over the moonscape slopes of Sicily’s Mount Etna volcano.

The event is open to any solo rider or four person teams, with solo riders ascending Europe’s most active volcano a quad busting seven times, totaling 8995 meters of vertical ascent over 280 kilometers.

Starting at o-dark-early (04:00) in Linguaglossa and climbing to Rufugio Il Ginepro each 40 kilometer lap, the world championship will deviate from traditional Everesting rules. Overall results will be based only on total accumulated time ascending Mount Etna and exclude 20 kilometers of neutralized descent each lap.

Although you may attempt an Everesting Challenge (ascending the equivalent height of Mount Everest) for free on any climb in the world, to vye for an Everesting World Championship title you must pay an entry fee of 200+ euros.

Although, adding “World’s Best Climber” to your palmarès… priceless.
