After winning both UCI Gravel World Series races in Australia last year, Gravelista and SEVEN, Brendan Johnston (GIANT) continued his winning ways on Saturday, added a third UCI Gravel World Series victory to his palmarès at Devils Cardigan in Tasmania on Saturday.
The 33 year-old graveleur qualified for the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships by soloing to victory on a 106 kilometer long route in 3:24:12. He defeated Tasman Nankervis by three minutes, followed Scott Bowden and Mark O’Brien another minute back.
19 year-old New Zealander Talia Appleton (PRATIES CYCLING TEAM) also soloed across the line to win the women’s race, finishing in 4:03:15. Tiffany Cromwell earned second place at 4:07:25, with Holly Harris third in 4:28:33.
In the 54 kilometer medio distance event, up-and-coming junior racer Dylan Locke (HOBART WHEELERS/DIRT DEVILS) showcased his talent, earning overall victory in 2:04:17, with Jayne Grubits (SHREDDING BETTIES) doing the same for the women in 2:29:48.
Competitors finishing in the top 25% of their age/gender category qualified for the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships taking place in the Netherlands next October.
