The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) announced on Friday that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed an appeal filed by Romanian MTB cyclist Vlad Dascalu challenging a suspension issued by the UCI Anti-Doping Tribunal last year.

CAS agreed that Dascalu, 27, committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation after “three whereabouts failures in a 12-month period,” resulting in a 17-month suspension beginning 21 May 2024.

Dascalu, a member of the Trek Factory Racing team and a 2019 U23 World Champion, was required to submit complete whereabouts location information in accordance with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules so he could be “located at any time for no advance notice testing.”

Following his suspension, Trek Factory Racing announced they were cutting all ties with Dascalu, indefinitely barring him from team activities.

He is prohibited from participating in sport in any capacity until 20 October 2025.
