Former pro Alberto Nardin (TEAM BCP BIKE) and UCI Gran Fondo Matildica champion Giulia Bisso (TEAM PIUSPORT) started the 2025 Italian season atop the podium after dominating the 5th Gran Fondo Diano Marina last weekend on a cloudy Italian Riviera.
Nardin, 34, a former professional rider for Androni-Sidermec, soloed to victory with over a 5 minute margin on the 103 kilometer hilly route, finishing in 2:43:31 with an average speed of 37.0 km/h. Matteo Raimondi (2:48:59) finished in second place, while third went to Emanuele Caddeo (2:49:21).
Bisso’s victory in the women’s race was even more dominant, the 38 year-old crossed the finish of Diano Marina’s main street with almost 10 minutes of advantage over the next rider. With an average speed of 33 k/hr she stopped the clock in 3:05:24. Olga Cappiello (3:14:48) and Sabrina De Marchi (3:15:04) battled for the remaining podium steps, with Cappiello claiming second place.
