The much anticipated start of the 2025 Italian gran fondo season at the 14th Gran Fondo Loano this past weekend was put on hold due to particularly adverse rainy and windy conditions on the Italian Riviera.

“The decision was made in order to protect cyclists and volunteers engaged along the route, as well as to safeguard the smooth running of the event in appropriate weather conditions” said organizer Loabikers Sports Group (LSG).

LSG, in agreement with municipal officials, decided to postpone the race to ensure maximum safety for all competitors on the 107km mountainous race route with 1650m of elevation change.

The Italian gran fondo season will now kickoff next Sunday 16 March at Gran Fondo Diano Marina, with Gran Fondo Loano rescheduled for 16 March.
