Great Britain will host the first of its kind Gravel National Time Trial Championship next September, with championship medals and jerseys awarded to male and female elite, age group and junior riders.

As part of the 2025 British Gravel Championship weekend taking place 12-14 September in breathtaking Darby Forest within North Yorkshire, gravel speed demons will roll down the start house ramp on Friday at 20 second intervals to compete against the clock over 16.1 kilometers of gravel.

Although course details are pending, organizer Red On Group describes it as “a mix of fast-rolling sections, technical turns, and punchy climbs, requiring strategic pacing and skillful handling.”

Just like individual time trials on the road, the same type of rules apply: aero tri-bars and helmets allowed, riders caught drafting will be disqualified, “Puppy Paw” positions (i.e. forearms on bars) are banned and E-bikes forbidden.

Any rider is eligible to enter, but only British passport holders may win a British champions jersey or stand on the podium.

The elite competition is open to riders of any age, with age groupers competing for national championship titles in the following ranges 19-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+. Junior racers must be at least 16 years-old, but younger than 19.

On Saturday, the day after the time trial, age group and junior riders will race for British Gravel Championship titles, with elite racers competing on Sunday.
