The 14th annual Belgian Waffle Ride (BWR) in San Diego, California is adding a paved gran fondo road event alongside its iconic BWR ‘unroad’ gravel race next April.

Starting and finishing at the Del Mar Polo Fields on Saturday April 26, a day before BWR gravel, the Belgian Waffle Roadie-Oh Gran Fondo offers roadies three different urban routes with timed segments through the northern portions of San Diego County.

161km Gran Fondo with ~2000m of ascent/descent

100km Medio Fondo with ~1000m of ascent/descent

50km Piccolo Fondo with ~500m of ascent/descent

Although route details and maps have yet to be revealed, ex-roadie turned gravel organizer Michael Marckx is sure to deliver smooth asphalt, challenging inland climbs, gorgeous SoCal coastal views and a post-ride party not to be missed – including Belgian waffles, craft beer and live music.

For the ultimate challenge, hardmen and hardwomen can ride the Roadie-Oh on Saturday and then tackle the 200km BWR ‘unroad’ race on Sunday.
