On 19 January the Giro d’Italia Ride Like A Pro amateur series rolls into Florida for the second time to launch the North American gran fondo season.
Taking place on Florida’s Atlantic Coast in sunny and warm St. Augustine, the event will crown champions in 86-mile Gran, 60-mile Medio and 33-mile Piccolo fondos, with riders competing over designated (Florida flat) timed segments.
The rider with the lowest aggregate time through all timed segments, of varying distance, on each route will be crowned the winner. Complete course time (from start line to finish line) will NOT count towards award placement.
- Piccolo – 33.5 mile race on an OPEN course with one timed segment and one fully supported aid station at the 12.1 mile mark.
- Medio – 60.8 mile race on an OPEN course with three timed segments and three fully supported aid stations at mile mark 12.1, 33.3 and 51.8.
- Gran Fondo – 86.5 mile race on an OPEN course with four timed segments and five fully supported aid stations at mile mark 12.1, 33.3, 46, 64.9 and 77.7.
The start and finish is at the Rennaissance Hotel World Golf Village, with registration including a custom maglia rosa inspired Giro d’Italia Ride Like A Pro jersey, pre-race pasta dinner and a post-race lunch.
