The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), via an independent arbitrator, banned 53 year-old para cycling athlete Dr. Aaron Keith for 4 months after he tested tested positive for an unspecified anabolic substance.

At an evidentiary hearing last August, where both parties were provided an opportunity to present their cases, the arbitrator determined that Keith’s out-of-competition positive test on 29 February 2024 was likely caused by consuming a contaminated product, which qualified him for a reduced 4 month ban rather than 2 full years.

Keith has already served the ban which began on 19 April 2024, the date he was provisionally suspended, and ended 19 August.

The hearing was held on an expedited basis to resolved the case before team selections were made for the Paralympic Games Paris 2024 starting on 28 August, though Keith did not make the team.

Previously, Keith was a member of Team USA at the Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, where he won a silver medal. He also claimed a world title and rainbow jersey in 2019 at the UCI Para Cycling World Time Trial Championships.
