Over 2000 cyclists in bright blue Movistar jerseys filled the roads of Punta del Este, Uruguay on Sunday 8 December at Gran Fondo Movistar Uruguay, with professionals Mariana Garcia Britos (TEAM BRAGHETTE PREZIOSO) and Diego Jamen (SAN ANTONIO DE FLORIDA) standing victorious on the podium afterwards.

The 35 year-old Mariana Garcia Britos, a national champion on the velodrome and 2X GFNY winner, finished the 118km gran fondo in 2:43:11 to win the women’s competition. Lucrecia Sposito (2:55:50) earned second place, with Syomara Facchin (2:55:51) in third.

For the men it was 28 year-old pro Diego Jamen who had the final leg speed to sprint past eight breakaway companions to win in 2:36:16. Just one second later, Juan Caorsi and Hernan Todeo crossed under the finish banner to claim second and third place respectively.

The 65km medio fondo saw Pable Cedres win for the men in 1:42:07, with Patrica da Cunha taking the women’s title in 1:58:01.
