On Sunday, Mexico City, population 10 million, rolled out the red carpet to host over 2000 cyclists at the 8th edition of L’Etape CDMX by Tour de France. On a fully closed race route through Mexico’s iconic capital city, starting at 06:30 from the Angel of Independence, cyclists rode either a 60km medio fondo route or 120km gran fondo.

Winning the women’s gran fondo was 31 year-old former pro Montserrat Pérez Vera in 02:42:41, followed by Priscila Vázquez Arriaga at 02:49:22 and Grecia Reynoso Martínez in 02:49:23.

For the men it was elite triathlete Uzziel Valderrabano Chávez, 22, finishing first in a three-up sprint for the podium. With a final time of 2:40:46, he defeated Nicolas Probert Vargas and Humberto Gómez Orozco in that order.

The 60km medio fondo saw Roxana León García, 34, cross the finish line first in 01:32:10 for the women, followed by Ana Cristina Hernández Velázquez at with 01:36:35 and Brenda Rebeca Cortés Salas at 01:38:25.

In the men’s race, Mario Alberto Contreras Reyes, 43, sprinted to the top of the podium with a winning time of 01:28:48, followed closely by Javier Albarrán Martín and Alejandro Ríos Marulanda.

The 9th edition of L’Etape CDMX will take place 30 November 2025.
