The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) announced on Friday that Taiwanese amateur wheelchair racer Prawat Wahoram, 43, has been banned for one year after committing an Article 2.4 anti-doping rule violation: Whereabouts failures by an athlete.
A ‘whereabouts failure’ violation occurs when an athlete (typically part of a Registered Testing Pool) misses out-of-competition anti-doping tests and/or fails to make required location filings three times in a 12 month period.
As a seven-time Paralympic gold medalist Wahoram is part of the IPC Registered Testing Pool, and obligated to continuously provide details of his physical location and be available at any time for no-notice testing.
IPC reports Wahoram missed two anti-doping tests and committed one filing failure from 1 May 2023 through 21 April 2024, an anti-doping violation that earned Taiwan’s most successful Paralympic athlete a one year ban beginning 19 July 2024.
