The third edition of Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo will return Saturday 16 November in the city of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, offering participants the opportunity to win a portion of the cycling world’s biggest one-day prize payout – 500,000 Euros (AED 2 million)
Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, made the announcement, “The third edition of the Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo provides a distinguished experience for cycling fans, as it brings together both amateur and professional cyclists on a long track that passes through different areas in Abu Dhabi.”
In 2023 over 1200 riders from 75 nations participated, with competitors racing on a dead-flat 150 kilometer point-to-point route from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain, with the winning time about 3:22:00 at an average speed close to 47km/h.
Riders looking to win a share of the huge cash prize payout must register in the elite category and have a racing license. Riders without a license will race in one of ten open age group categories for slightly smaller payouts. A team competition is also available.
The 2024 cash prize payouts are expected to mimic 2023’s: 20 deep overall and 10 deep for each age category, plus team prizes.

Riders who have been registered as Professionals on a UCI WorldTour team, UCI Women WorldTour team or UCI Proteam within the last two years are not eligible for any cash prizes. UCI Continental team riders may are eligible for cash prizes.
Anti-doping controls and sanctions will be in effect. If a participant tests positive during the anti-doping controls carried out at the event, or in case of being tested positive in the six months following it, the organization reserves the right to ask for the compensation from the participant. Requesting an amount of 50,000 Euro (AED 200,000) to cover the damages to the image of the event.
