While it may not award sparkling rainbow world champion jerseys, the original Gravel Worlds® will do something the UCI has never done, award $100,000 USD in cash prizes next year.

Started in 2010, a decade before the UCI learned how to spell G R A V E L, the original off-road gravel world championships will once again take place in Lincoln, Nebraska on 23 August 2025, offering the biggest one-day gravel prize purse in the world.

Paying 10 deep and split evenly between the men’s and women’s elite fields (with winners taking home $17,500 each) the race is sure to attract the world’s best gravel racers, many who have shunned the UCI’s Gravel World Series and Gravel World Championships (which offer no cash prizes) to earn a living racing in the USA.

Considered by many as a “tougher” and “truer” gravel world championship than the road racer centric UCI versions, Gravel Worlds® often humbles roadies willing to tackle the 150-mile self-supported route with 10,000+ feet of climbing through the rural farmlands of Southeastern Nebraska.

While elite level graveleurs will battle for fat stacks of cash, the mission of Gravel Worlds® has always been to create a fun, kick-ass event for over 2500 athletes of all abilities to enjoy. Besides the main 150-mile championship race, 50, 25 and 300-mile distances are also available, with no pre-qualification needed to participate – just register, show up and ride.
