The official amateur series of the Tour de France rolled into Instanbul on Sunday 20 October for the inaugural L’Etape Türkiye gran fondo. Over a thousand cyclists from 50 countries braved 4C temperature, rain and slick roads on a 109km gran fondo or 59km medio fondo route, with Şeniz Pamuk (RISE PERFORMANCE CLUB) and Anton Hrabovsky (ASPEROX BIKEPEDIA RACING TEAM) each claiming victory and a Tour de France yellow champion’s jersey in the women’s and men’s gran fondo.
Pamuk won the women’s race with a strong solo performance in 3:26:02, followed by Züleyha Dikbaş (3:46:39) and Aslıhan İkizoğlu Dinç (3:50:05).
For the men Hrabovsky also crossed the finish line solo, stopping the clock at 2:55:05. Former pro Gökhan Uzuntaş (2:56:54) finished in second place, with Ege Onat Doğuşlu (3:02:17) claiming the final podium step.
Also taking home yellow jerseys were Gökçe Demirsoy (ASPEROX BIKEPEDIA RACING TEAM) and Murat Uslu (KIRLANGIÇ BISIKLET KULÜBÜS), who won the shorter medio fondo with times of 1:43:38 and 1:36:35 in the women’s and men’s competition.
