The world’s most successful gran fondo series, L’Etape by Tour de France, rolled into Viana do Castelo, Portugal on Sunday 29 September, with 650 cyclists riding along the Atlantic coast and then inland to tackle four rated climbs over the course of 121 kilometers on the gran fondo route.

The Dutch Pieter Frolichs (CYCLOWORLD) won the gran fondo in 3:29:27, defeating Tiago Teixeira (3:29:28) and David Vaz (3:29:29), both from Portugal.

Making it a Dutch sweep, Nicolien Luijsterburg (UPV) won the women’s gran fondo in 3:43:20, followed by Daniela Oliveira (4:17:38) of Brazil and the Russian Darina Balabai (4:18:35).

Monica Hernandez (LOVE TILES) of Spain and Michel Michado (VASCONHA BTT VOUZELA) from Portugal won the 100km medio fondo for the men and women respectively.
