With only four gravel events remaining for riders to qualify for the 2024 UCI Gravel World Championships, Italy hosted the 152km long Monsterrando race in the stunning Piemonte vineyard region on Saturday.

Petr Vakoc (INTEGRAY L27) claimed overall victory in 4:37:11, with the 32 year-old Czech rider finishing over two minutes up on Norwegian Andre Roed Torbjorn (4:39:23) and Asbjorn Hellemose (4:40:16) of Denmark.

30 year-old Italian Alice Maria Arzuffi (G.S. FIAMME ORO / TEAM CERATIZIT) won the women’s race in 5:10:48. Polish rider Karolina Migon (5:16:32) was next, followed by Elena Cecchini (5:17:48) of Italy.

In the shorter 76km race for older categories, Italians Elisabetta Mantoan (TESSERAMENTO GIORNALIERO) won for the women and Filippo Ceci (FREE BIKE TEAM) for the men.

300 riders participated in the third edition of Monsterrando, with those finishing in the top 25% in their UCI age/gender category automatically qualifying to race at the UCI Gravel World Championships in Belgium in early October.

The remaining world championship qualifying races are: Alpine Gravel Challenge in Switzerland 8 September, Sea Otter Europe in Spain 21 September and Graean-Cymru in Great Britain 22 September.
