Continental level professional cycling team ENERGUS rode the amateur Velo Marathon Vilnius gran fondo in Lithuania last weekend like it was a world championship team time trial, leaving the peloton behind in their wake to claim the top 5 places.
The team of pros aged 19-27 started the event in Vilnius and immediately rolled away from the field, with 2024 Lithuanian Road and Time Trial Champion Venantas Lašinis driving the pace on a 100km long route. Two hours later (2:09:02) the five teammates rolled under the finish banner in-line to claim victory and a handful of brand new watches.
19 year-old Tomas Burka (ENERGUS CYCLING TEAM) finished first, followed by Žygimantu Matuzevičiu, Venantas Lašinis, Olegas Ivanovas, and Rokas Kmieliauskas. Edgaras Kovaliovas (TOP TEAM CYCLING) claimed sixth place four minutes later.
16 year-old Kirill Belov won the 50km medio fondo in 1:07:33, with Daiva Ragazinskiene (COLIBRI CYCLING), 38, winning the woman’s category in 1:07:35 while finishing third overall.
