The fifth edition of Colorado’s SBT GRVL, now considered one of the top gravel races in the North America, saw reigning USA National Gravel Champions Lauren Stephens (Cynsica Cycling) and Keegan Swenson (Santa Cruz Bicycles) each win their respective races.
Stephens, 37, finished the 125 mile race through the Rocky Mountains outside the city of Steamboat Springs with a huge 13 minute lead, crossing the finish line in 6:17:17. Next for the women was Sofia Gomez Villafañe (6:30:12) and Cecily Decker (6:37:20).
In the men’s race, Swenson, 30, also soloed to victory with a commanding lead, finishing in 5:40:10, followed by Torbjorn Roed (5:49:46) and Alexey Vermeulen (5:49:47).
Both Stephens and Swenson are expected to lineup the 2024 USA Gravel National Championships 9 September in Nebraska and then at the UCI Gravel World Championships 5-6 October in Belgium.
Over 3100 gravel cycling aficionados participated in SBT GRVL this year, racing on routes from 37 to 125 miles in length.
