Four-year old Parker Gray of Wales, who is still in nursery school, recently competed in the U16 category at the United Kingdom Flatland BMX Championships, finishing a very impressive 3rd after defeating a field of competitors four-times older.
Lining up against 18 other riders, most of them ‘big kids’ standing twice as tall as Parker, the cycling prodigy was not intimidated and launched off the starting blocks like a rocket. Pedaling in tiny circles as fast as he could, Parker delivered an impressive six-trick combo for his final run to earn 3rd place overall in front of a cheering crowd of 100 fans.
“At four, he was the youngest there,” proud father Louis told The South Wales Argus. “There was a five-and-a-half-year-old and then it jumped to 11, 12, 13. The aim was to have fun and just ride, it’s wild that he was third against some big kids – the three of them were on the podium and Parker was half their size!”
“I just love it so much,” Parker added.
Parker, who started riding a balance bike at 18 months old, has now set his sights on X Games glory and a Red Bull sponsorship – likely sooner than later.
Good luck Parker! We will be cheering for you every pedal stroke.
