The Italian National Anti-Doping Tribunal has banned amateur cyclist Giuseppe Di Salvo 12 years after he was found guilty of using Erythropoietin (EPO), a substance banned at all times by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

It is the third time the 40 year-old has run afoul of anti-doping rules. In 2018 Di Salvo was preliminarily suspended by NADO Italia after allegedly testing positive for Triamcinolone Acetonide, according to PianetaMTB. In addition, he was suspended for two-years after testing positive for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HGC) in 2007 as reported by TuttoBiciWeb.it.

Di Salvo was also stripped of an amateur UCI World Championship title won in 2014 after he intentionally violated rules and raced without valid license, as announced in an FCI News Release.

His 12 year ban from all sports, in any capacity, runs from 26 May 2024 until 26 May 2036.
