Unprecedented record-breaking heat and numerous wildfires throughout the western USA have forced the cancellation of Crusher in the Tushar gravel race scheduled Saturday 13 July in Beaver, Utah.

The event, part of the Life Time Grand Prix, announced the difficult decision to cancel after two massive fires burning on the rural race route were zero percent contained and had consumer over 15,000 acres of forest at press time.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Crusher in the Tushar event, scheduled for July 13, due to the ongoing Silver King and Little Twist forest fires in the Piute County area, home to more than half of the Crusher course, as well as extreme fire risk from record-breaking hot and dry temperatures.

We have made this difficult decision after:

  • Evaluating and consulting with a number of local resources
  • With respect for the local emergency services teams, working hard to protect their communities
  • With respect to the risk of extremely poor air quality. The safety of our athletes, volunteers, partners, and community, as well as the proper use of emergency services, are our top priorities.

We understand how disappointing this news is, and we appreciate your understanding and support during this challenging time.

Billed as “the toughest 69 mile gravel race in the world,” the sold-out event includes a mountain top finish and over 10,000’ of climbing in Utah’s rugged Tushar Mountains.

Unfortunately, Life Time does not offer a full refund of the $180 USD registration fee if they cancel for any reason this close to the event date, only refunding a meager 40% ($72). On the other hand, registered riders may rollover their 2024 registration to 2025 or donate 100% of the entry fee to help fight the fires.
