On Sunday Mihkel Räim clinched victory in the 126km UCI world championship qualifying gran fondo at the 43rd Tartu Rattaralli in Estonia, completing an all Estonian sweep of the podium.
The 30 year-old pro continental team rider for Mongolia based Ferei Quick-Panda Podium finished with a time of 2:39:28, narrowly beating follow countrymen Alo Jakin and Lauri Tamm by two and three seconds respectively. Lithuanian Rokas Kmieliauskas crossed the line in fourth place, followed by Oliver Mätik in fifth.
In the women’s gran fondo race, 19 year-old Elisabeth Ebras, racing for UAE Development Team, claimed top honors with a strong finishing kick. The 19 year-old stopped the clock in 2:41:32, while finishing 19th overall. Lithuanian Akvile Gedraityte and Polish rider Tamara Szalinska took second and third place, in that order.
Lukas Bobkin soloed to victory in the 56km medio fondo with a final time of 1:18:43, followed by Glen Gregoru Koiv and Sebastian Suppi twenty seconds later.
Overt 5000 cyclists participated in the 43rd Tartu Rattaralli, with those finishing in the top 25% of their UCI age/gender category qualifying to participate in the 2024 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships scheduled August 29 in Denmark.
