Proving once again that Italians are some of the best amateur gran fondo bike racers in the world, TEAM OM.CC riders Manuele Caddeo and Lorenza Beccaria traveled to New York City this past weekend and are returning home with 2024 GFNY World Championship victories – keeping the GFNY World titles on Italian soil for another year.

In the 84-mile race the 38 year-old former pro Caddeo bridged to a three-man break, then powered away on the final ramp to win with arms raised in 3:30:22, followed by Colombian Diego Vazquez (3:30:25) and American Ruben Companioni (3:30:26).

27 year-old former world-class middle distance runner Lorenza Beccaria, 27, won the women’s GFNY World Championship title in similar fashion, crossing under the finish banner in 3:47:33, followed closely by American Emma Drabbe (3:47:40) and the French Tyffen Suaren (3:48:27).

Last year at the 2023 GFNY World Championships Italians Mattia Gaffuri and Chiara Doni won, while in 2022 it was Luca Vergallito and Samantha Arnaudo.
