2024 Gran Fondo Strade Bianche champion Marine Lenehan added another page to her ever growing palmares on Saturday evening – 2024 Irish National Criterium Champion.

In only her second season of competitive racing, 26 year-old Lenehan (Dan Morrissey-Primór by Pissei) notched victories on the road, gravel and now the domain of quick twitch racers – criteriums.

With a commanding powerful sprint she won her first Irish criterium title at the National Championships in Banbridge, Co Down, beating veteran elite speedsters Annalise Murphy and Aine Doherty to the finish line in the 60 minute race.

Speaking to Cycling Ireland after her victory, Lenehan said:

“Today was really fast and furious from the first lap. It was really full gas throughout all the race. It was a pace that I liked and enjoyed. Annalise Murphy made many attacks and we had to work hard to close her. For my I love sprinting, I attacked in the last corner and just went. So happy, I can’t really believe it yet.

In less than a year Lenehan has won UEC European Gran Fondo and Grave Championships, Italy’s famous Granfondo Strade Bianche and the Irish Esports Championship, just to name a few of her victories.

Keep an eye out for her name, she is sure to be standing atop many more podiums going forward.
