The Gralloch, a UCI Gravel World Championship qualifying event, has announced a new route for the 2024 edition taking place 18 May in Scotland. Starting and finishing in Garries Park, the gritty, chunky and lumpy loop is sure to be action packed, especially with a record 1500+ racers already signed up.

At 111 kilometers in length with 1761 meters of vertical ascent, the relentless gravel (85%) course will thin the field quickly, right from the flag drop. Starting off straight uphill on Fuffock Hill, or FU Hill for locals, the first climb is just over 6km in length and will most certainly set the stage for final placings.

Next up at 52km is the aptly named Slaughter Hill, around 4km in length it climbs 150 meters from Loch Ken to a summit with stunning 360 degree views of forests, farmlands, rivers, and historic villages in the Galloway & Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere.

After a butt puckering descent, the back half of the course is a seemingly never ending shark tooth profile filled with much pain and suffering. Riders able to hang on through the peaks and valleys will then enjoy a nice 20km (mostly) downhill, with the last 13km on very fast asphalt into Garries Park for a final dash across the line.

Riders ranking in the top 25% of their age/gender category at the finish automatically qualify to participate in the 2024 UCI Gravel World Championships taking place in Belgium in October.
