Ex-pro George Hincapie is once again expanding his USA Gran Fondo Hincapie amateur series, with the newest event offering two gran fondo rides over two days for a total distance of 164 miles and 11,000 feet of climbing in Northwest Arkansas.

George’s brother Rich Hincapie made the announcement, saying the event will take place 6-8 September 2024 in the USA’s newest cycling mecca – Bentonville, Arkansas.

Bentonville is a must-visit cycling destination that not only has top-tier roads, gravel, and trails to ride, but also a vibrant and fun city to explore, dine, and unwind in after a long day on the bike,” said Rich Hincapie. “The best part will be waiting for you at the finish line in Downtown Bentonville where friends, family, and thousands of other cyclists will be waiting to cheer you on as you accomplish your riding goal. Grab a beverage and enjoy two days of food and friendship at our Family Fun Festival! Our events are designed for participants of all skill levels, giving everyone a chance to connect with other cycling enthusiasts and indulge their passion for cycling.”

On Saturday Gran Fondo Hincapie-Bentonville will rollout of town heading north towards the Missouri state line to tackle some very aggressive climbs, with an overall elevation change of 6,000 feet for the 78-mile Gran Fondo and 3,600 feet for the 53-mile Medio Fondo. Both routes finish right back in the heart of downtown Bentonville.

On Sunday, using different roads, the course once again travels north and then clockwise into the rolling hills of Missouri. With 5,000 feet of climbing for the 86-mile Gran Fondo and 2,900 feet for the 45-mile Medio Fondo, Hincapie says the route is a “gentler option” than Saturday’s.

Gran Fondo Hincapie adding Bentonville to their 2024 calendar is a fortunate turn of events for Northwest Arkansas after the 2024 Joe Martin Stage Race was cancelled last month, one of America’s most enduring and successful amateur road events.
