It’s been a tough year for virtual cycling platform Zwift. The company has weathered multiple rounds of staff cuts, experienced whirlwind changes in leadership and lost out on hosting the world’s most prestigious virtual race, the UCI Esports Cycling World Championships.
Beginning in March Zwift hopes to turn their fortune around with the introduction of the inaugural Zwift Games, a month-long competitive series for elites and everyday weekend warriors billed as the largest virtual racing event ever held.
Anyone can take participate in the open-for-all series running 1-31 March. Overall general classification rankings will be scored on total combined time from each of five stages, though riders may complete any stage more than once to try and improve their time. Zwift has not indicated if any post-race performance verification of results will take place and riders looking to compete in the general classification must register prior to 1 March.
