The Polish qualifier for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships planned on 4-5 May has been cancelled according to an update from the organizer, World Tour pro Rafal Majka.

Majka Gran Fondo’s change is due to the fact that it’s namesake and host is scheduled to be racing in the three-week Giro d’Italia in May, providing critical support for his UAE Team Emirates team leader Tadej Pogačar.

Organized personally by Majka, a two-time winner of the Tour de France mountain classification, the amateur race attracts over 1000 participants, with many trying to qualify for the world championships by finishing in the top 25% of their age/gender category.

Majka commented that the event plans to return next year as a 2025 UCI Gran Fondo World Championship qualifying race.
