One of the United Kingdom’s most popular sportive events plans to return in 2025 after cancelling this year’s edition due to disputes with the local Scottish government council. The completely closed road Tour O The Borders sportive will once again roll through the rolling green countryside of the Scottish Borders region on 7 September 2025.

With overwhelming support from local residents and business who benefit economically from the 2000+ participants, organizers persuaded the Scottish Borders Council (SBC) to overcome their objections and back the event once again.

SBC announced it was now “fully committed” to holding the event after a regional survey showed over 75% of the population supports the cyclosportive.

”The importance of the event as a sports event and as a contributor to the local economy has been recognised and we’re delighted it now seems to have more support than ever,” Tour O The Borders posted on their Facebook page.

Started in 2014, Tour O The Borders offers cyclists 120km and 88km routes over quiet, picturesque fully closed back roads that take in some of the most amazing natural scenery in Scotland.
