Alberto Nardin kicked of the 2024 Italian gran fondo season on Sunday with a dominating victory at the 13th Gran Fondo Loano on the sunny Italian Riviera.

The 33 year-old former professional for Androni Giocattoli (2015-2016) attacked solo and built a commanding lead that pursuers could not close, eventually finishing the 111km race in 2:47:16. A minute and a half later a large group sprinted for the minor placings, with Luca Boschini (2:48:49) pipping Serafino Raffaele (2:48:49) on the line for second place.

Selene Colombi easily won the women’s race in 3:01:48, crossing the finish line 11 minutes ahead of the next two competitors, Sabrina De Marchi (3:12:54) and Olga Cappiello (3:12:54).
