Premier wheel builder Lightweight has released a limited-edition run of its Meilenstein Evo Signature Gold Edition wheels, each with 23-carat pure gold leaf graphics. Sure to be the envy of many a fondo rider and attract dentists looking to add more bike bling, the wheelset costs a jaw dropping $10,000 USD including tax - yes, more than most pro World Tour team bikes.
But anyone looking to go for the gold this season better place an order quick, only a limited edition production run of 99 sets will be available: 33 in Europe, 33 in the Americas and 33 in the Asia-Pacific region.
Lightweight carbon wheels have been used on special occasions in the pro peloton for years, showing up in grand tour mountain stages, UCI World Championships and the Olympics – most notably when Richard Carapaz won road gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
The 1230 gram Meilenstein Evo Signature Gold Edition wheelset comes tubeless ready for disc brakes and includes CeramicSpeed bearings.
