Are you doping curious? Ever wonder who you might know that has been tested for World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) banned substances?

Now you can find out.

While information for athletes who return a positive anti-doping test are made public by National Anti-Doping Organizations, the names of athletes who return negative test results are rarely disclosed.

Now, a little known public database managed by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) includes information on every athlete for the last 10 years who submitted anti-doping samples to USADA. While the Athlete Test History database does not identify athletes banned after returning a positive test result (they are listed here), it does list individual names and the total number of samples collected for each athlete. Thus, effectively helping identifying many athletes who tested “clean.”

Anti-doping samples collected In- and Out-of-Competiton for USADA may include: urine, whole blood, dried blood spot and serum blood.

According to USADA, “The number of samples USADA has collected is typically not the number of test sessions an individual athlete has been selected for during a given period, as multiple samples (e.g., blood, urine, Dried Blood Spot) are often collected during a single test session. Thus, the number of samples collected typically does not equate to the number of times an athlete has been selected for an in-competition or out-of-competition test session.”

The database does not include athletes who refused, avoided or fled from a required anti-doping test, a WADA Article 2.3 violation requiring an automatic ban from sport.

At time of publication, 1637 amateur and professional cyclists who submitted 9128 anti-doping samples are in the database. To see all cycling athlete records select “Cycling” from the Sport drop-down menu in the link below and then choose “Search.”
