The 2024 USA Cycling Esports National Championships were held last week on the virtual training/racing platform Zwift, with over 200 riders competing for national titles and virtual stars and stripes jerseys from the comfort of their own personal “pain caves.”

The event was organized by Echelon Racing Promotions for amateur age group athletes as well as elite riders, with age groupers racing a short 18.3 virtual miles on Zwift’s New York park Perimeter Loop.

Age-group national esports champions are:

Stefanie Sydlik W35-39, Emily Nyquist W40-44, Jenn Real W45-49, Theia Friestedt W50-54, Andi Smith W55-59, Jennifer Slawta W60-64, Sherry Berde Townsend W65-69, Margaret Thompson W70-74 and Wendy Skean W80-84.

Scott Catanzaro M35-39, Jadon Jaeger M40-44, Mason Rocca M45-49, Scott Cunningham M50-54, David Henderson M55-59, Kevin Metcalfe M60-64, Jeffrey Moreton M65-69, Michael Kurtz M70-74, Scott Bulfinch M75-79 and Dominic Rossetto M80-84.

The new collegiate national esports champions are Fred Meredith from Marian University for the men and Megan Lester from Lindenwood University for the women.

The elite men and women categories competed in a three-race points based omnium beginning with a road race on the 2015 UCI Worlds Richmond course, followed by the Bologna Time Trial, and finished on the Neokyo Criterium Circuit. Brian Duffy earned the national champion stars and stripes jersey for the men, while Kristin Kulchinsky rode away with the champion’s jersey for the women.
