After seventeen years Ale La Merckx gran fondo in Italy is changing things up, moving to a new location, Livigno, in the heart of the Italian Alps on the Swiss boarder.
One of the most popular gran fondo events in Italy, Ale La Merckx has taken place in Verona for over 2000 riders annually, but on 29 June 2024 participants will tackle new challenging routes while enjoying commanding Alpine vistas.
With a start/finish in the city center of Livigno the route plans for the 18th edition are stunning.
The gran fondo is 173 kilometers long with a leg-breaking 4100 meters of elevation gain, including Passo dell’Umbrail, just below the world famous Stelvio, Passo del Foscagno and the Passo Eira.
The 96km medio fondo will start by crossing into Switzerland, via the Passo della Forcola, before climbing the many switchbacks of Passo Bernina and Passo del Forno to accumulate over 1300 meters of vertical gain before returning to Livigno.
2024 Ale La Merckx registration will open soon HERE.
