This past week NADO Italia (National Anti-Doping Organization) added 4 more years to the existing 4 year suspension of Alessandro Chirieletti after he violated Anti-Doping Sports Article 11.14 – “Prohibition Against Participation During Ineligibility or Suspension.”
In 2021 Chirieletti was found guilty of doping violations by the National Anti-Doping Tribunal and was banned from sport until 26 April 2025. But NADO recently learned the 50 year-old amateur cyclocross and MTB racer for team ASD Tirreno Bike continued to race while suspended.
Online results reviewed by Gran Fondo Daily show Chirieletti finished 32nd overall at Roma Master Cross in November. He also competed in at least one other race in 2023, three in 2022 and two in late 2021 – all in violation of the terms of his original ban.
Article 11.14 states: “No Athlete or other Person who has been declared Ineligible or is subject to a Provisional Suspension may, during a period of Ineligibility or Provisional Suspension, participate in any capacity in a Competition or activity (other than anti-doping Education or rehabilitation programs authorized by NADO Italia) authorized or organized by any Signatory, Signatory’s member organization, of a club or other member organization of a Signatory’s member organization, or in Competitions authorized or organized by any professional league of any international- or national-level Event organization or any elite or national-level sporting activity funded by a governmental agency.”
Chirieletti is now banned from participating in sport in any capacity until 26 September 2029.
