Sunday morning along the far eastern coast of Brazil the 3rd edition of Gran Fondo João Pessoa took place on a 109km route, with 6x Brazilian national champion Danrley Cavalcante taking top honors.

After finishing fourth in 2022, the 27 year-old road and MTB cycling star was thrilled to win this edition, “Gran Fondo is one of the largest cycling events in Brazil and I am happy to end my season with victory!” Completing the overall men’s podium were: 2º Vinícius Cordeiro, 3º Jefferson Silva, 4º Jadson Prudêncio and 5º Léo Brito.

Andréia Medeiros won the women’s gran fondo, moving up to the top podium step after finishing second last year. “Last year I was in 2º place but this year I managed to climb to the highest place on the podium, and the race in João Pessoa had a spectacular course, very well marked, well signposted and I congratulate everyone involved, because it was a very well organized race,” she commented afterwards. Rounding out the top five women were: 2º Brena Queiroz, 3ºMaria Cecília, 4º Adriana Teixeira and 5º Layla Barros.
