On Saturday at the UCI Track Champions League event on the island of Mallorca, the men’s elimination race lived up to its name… and eliminated the field. In a huge crash that left bodies and bikes strewn across the wooden velodrome, riders tumbled over one another and fell like dominoes. The race was then red flagged and stopped while officials, mechanics and soigneurs scraped riders up off the track. Luckily no one incurred major injuries, with most able to resume racing when the event was rerun and won by Canadian Dylan Bibic, albeit a bit bruised, burned and battered.
