Once again Bike Abu Dhabi is blurring the line between professional and amateur bike racing by offer the richest amateur race in the world with 500,000 Euro (AED 2 million) cash prize payout across all categories.
The second edition of Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo on November 18 2023 will comprise a 154 km point-to-point flat route starting from Abu Dhabi and finishing in Al Ain, with the entire race broadcast live on the Abu Dhabi Sports Channel. The 500,000 Euro prize payout will be split equally between men and women.

For reference, the three-week long 2023 Tour de France total prize payout was just 2.5 million Euro.
Riders looking to win big money must register in the elite category and have a racing license. Riders without a license will race in one of ten age group categories for slightly smaller payouts. A team competition is also available.
Riders who have been registered as Professionals on a UCI WorldTour team, UCI Women WorldTour team or UCI Proteam within the last two years are not eligible for any cash prizes. UCI Continental team riders may compete and are eligible for cash prizes.
Anti-doping controls and sanctions will be in effect. If a participant tests positive during the anti-doping controls carried out at the event, or in case of being tested positive in the six months following it, the organization reserves the right to ask for the compensation from the participant. Requesting an amount of 50,000 Euro (AED 200,000) to cover the damages to the image of the event.
The first edition of the race, which was held on November 12 2022, saw more than 800 cyclists from 72 countries participate, with Grega Bole and Olivija Baleisyte each taking home an winner’s check for 75,000 Euro!
