The Italian Cycling Federation (FCI) held its 2023 Gran Fondo National Championship race on Sunday 08 October at Gran Fondo La Medievale just outside of Rome, with 17 national championship titles and tricolore jerseys awarded.

Hair Gallery Cycling Team dominated the men’s results and celebrated with arms-up victory salutes as they crossed the finish line of the 105km race together in 2:46:23. Ivan Martinelli (M30-34), Francesco Roselli (M35-39) and Wladimiro D’Ascenzo (M40-44) each won a national championship title and jersey. Overall, the team took four of the Top 5 places, with Danilo Celano finishing second overall behind Martinelli.

The team’s outstanding success was a welcomed result after one of their new recruits, 2022 European (UEC) Gran Fondo Champion Moris Sammassimo, was preliminarily suspended in August after allegedly failing an anti-doping test.
