On Tuesday NADO Italia (National Anti-Doping Organization) banned nine amateur cyclists for a variety of anti-doping violations this year, including testing positive for EPO, hCG and Furosemide, as well as avoiding required anti-doping tests.

Luigi “The Flying Doc” Ferritto, 42, received a 3 year ban, until 25 April 2026, after testing positive for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG).

Giuseppe Maiello, a teammate of Ferritto, received a 3 year ban, until 7 May 2025, after testing positive for Furosemide.

Marco Paiorisi, 27, received a 10 month ban, until 24 April 2024, after testing positive for Prednisolone.

Salvatore Manna, 60, received a 3 year ban, until 30 May 2025, after testing positive for Erythropoietin (EPO).

Edoardo Francesco Faresin, 25, received a 3 year ban, until 11 May 2026, after testing positive for Erythropoietin (EPO).

Gianpietro D’Antuoni received a 4 year 8 month ban, until 12 July 2028, after testing positive for Erythropoietin (EPO).

Silvio Guida, 47, received a 3 year ban, until 19 June 2026, after he avoided required NADO anti-doping tests.

Ivan Alibrandi, 47, received a 3 year ban, until 17 July 2026, after he avoided required NADO anti-doping tests.

Antonino Rubino, who is already serving a 15 year ban after testing positive for a banned substance at Trofeo Ivan Siciliano in 2014, was handed a second 15 year ban when NADO found him guilty of violating Anti-Doping Sports Article 11.14 – Prohibition From Participating in Sport while Ineligible or Suspended. Rubino must now finish serving his original ban, which ends 29 March 2029, then serve a second 15 year ban. He will be eligible to participate in sports once again on 29 March 2044.
